The horseback riding lessons are geared towards beginning and intermediate rider with a focus on safety, horsemanship and fun.
The beginner riding lesson starts with instruction in safe handling techniques, horse behavior, grooming, tacking-up, mounting and dismounting. Then a calm well trained horse is selected and we move to the confines of the round pen to work on developing balance, coordination, correct posture, establishing a good seat and leg position. After the student has developed a reasonable amount of balance and coordination in the saddle, the student is introduced to techniques used to control the horse with seat, leg pressure and reins. The student then learn to ask the horse to walk, halt, back and trot with confidence. Anita provides a supportive environment and instruction to help each student progress at their own pace.
The Intermediate riding lesson is held in the arena and the rider learns the necessary skills to successfully manage the horse in all of the gaits. As the rider progresses, a more spirited horse may be introduced. |
